10 AMAZING BRISBANE AND BEYOND CAFES

10 AMAZING BRISBANE AND BEYOND CAFES, A decent cup of coffee can make or break my day, which is a highly personal perspective on a common beverage and one of life’s simpler joys. Like many Queenslanders, I’ve grown to appreciate good coffee, and I don’t like to accept less than the best. These are my top suggestions for cafes in Brisbane and elsewhere.

 

Not so long ago, finding a good coffee might have been difficult outside of Brisbane but these days, sipping coffee has become part of life in many places to visit in Queensland, especially in Brisbane, Noosa and the Gold Coast. Here’s where I go when I feel a need for the bean.

CAFES IN BRISBANE

1- BRENDAN’S CAFÉ

Not only is the coffee good, but the close-to-the-action Brisbane River views are unbeatable.

It doesn’t hurt that there’s a little exercise involved to earn your coffee either.

Where: Halfway across the Goodwill Bridge, Brisbane.

2- CAMPOS

As the flagship store for the Campos coffee empire, you are guaranteed a good drop here, but there’s also a public Cupping Room where you can fine-tune your coffee tasting skills.

Booking in for a weekend session is one of the cool things to do in Brisbane today.

3- ELIXIR COFFEE

There are plenty of excellent cafes in Brisbane like Elixir.

You’re not coming here for the décor, but when you can watch the coffee roasted from the tables, you know it’s fresh.

They’ve won plenty of awards too!

5- DRAMANTI ARTISAN ROASTER

A joint roaster and café tucked away in a car park next to a railway line, you can drink your Dramanti coffee with an especially clean conscience as the beans are ethically sourced from farms all over the world.

Where: 96 Tingal Road, Wynnum

6- MERLO

There are many places to enjoy a fine cup of Merlo coffee but my favourite is the Paddington coffee shop for its great view over the city.

My tip is to always try the blend of the month to expand your coffee horizons.

7- BELLISSIMO COFFEE 

They’ve got awards aplenty and a wide selection of freshly roasted beans here.

Where: 30 Wandoo Street, Fortitude Valley

8- BUNKER

The line-up here is always long but it’s worth the wait.

Much loved for its minimal appearance and location in an old bomb shelter covered with greenery.

Where: 21 Railway Terrace, Milton.

9- SKYBURY COFFEE

Take it one step further and drink your pure Arabica coffee within sight of the trees it was grown on.

Skybury Tropical Plantation is located in the heart of one of Australia’s richest food bowls, the Atherton Tableland (here are some other things to do on the Atherton Tablelands), about an hours’ drive from Cairns.

10- HERVEYS RANGE HERITAGE TEA ROOMS

It’s surprisingly smooth and sweet but there’s no denying the infamous coffee here, Kopi Luwak (cat poo coffee), priced at $50 a cup, is a novelty.

The beans are plucked from the droppings of the Asian Palm Civet.
